It was on 6th December 1962 when our beloved Swami inaugurated Sri Sathya Sai Nivas at Perambur the abode of our sweet Lord built next to Prasanthi Nilayam and has the rarest privilege that Swami Himself was the sole trustee of this property until it was transferred in the name of Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust. He pronounced in His inaugural address, “The light house” and truly Sai Nivas became the district headquarters of Chennai Metro North district, when the District was formed in 2003. It has to its pride devotees who carried bricks while building Prasanthi Nilayam and of dedicated souls who attend to the activities in the holy shrine for nearly six decades.

The district has 18 samithis and five Bhajan Mandalis namely Muthamizh Nagar, Sharma Nagar, Selavoyaol, Erukkavai and SIDCO Nagar.
